Community guidelines

Last updated:

The Community is where travelers share the dream trips they built. Keep it fun, kind and safe. These rules cover everything you put in Freecation: handles, avatars, posts, captions, trip and stay names, reports and share links. They’re part of the Terms of Use, and we have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

In short

  • Share dream trips, not deals, links or personal details.
  • No hate, harassment, threats, sexual content or scams.
  • Report anything that breaks the rules: moderators review reports within 24 hours.
  • Breaking the rules gets content removed and accounts banned.

What’s not allowed

  • Hate and harassment. Slurs; attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or serious illness; bullying; targeting someone again and again.
  • Threats and violence. Threatening anyone, encouraging violence or self-harm, or glorifying violent acts or groups.
  • Sexual content. Nudity, sexual or explicit content, or sexualizing anyone. Anything that sexualizes minors is removed at once and reported to the authorities.
  • Scams and fake offers. Posts are dream trips, not deals. No giveaways, prizes, gift cards, “free money”, crypto, discount codes, or links and contact details for getting them, and no pretending a dream trip is a real offer.
  • Impersonation. Posing as Freecation, its staff or moderators (“support”, “official”, “admin”), or as another person or brand.
  • Personal information. Phone numbers, addresses, emails or other private details, yours or anyone else’s, including real travel dates that show when a home will be empty.
  • Spam and gaming. Ads, affiliate or referral links, repeated posts, trading or faking upvotes or “inspired” claims, and using several accounts.
  • Illegal activity. Promoting or selling illegal goods or services, or posting content you don’t have the rights to.

Handles and avatars follow the same rules. Some words are blocked automatically, and handles that pose as Freecation are not available.

Reporting

In the app, tap the … menu on any post and choose Report post, then pick a reason (spam, offensive, harassment or something else). You can also email support@freecation.app (the “Report abuse” link in the app’s Settings), for example about a handle or a share link. The person you report isn’t told who reported them.

Blocking

From the same … menu, choose Block to stop seeing that person’s posts and profile.

How moderation works

  • Automatic hiding. A post is hidden from everyone as soon as three established accounts (at least 24 hours old) report it, and it goes into the moderation queue. Reports from brand-new accounts are kept for moderators but can’t hide a post on their own.
  • Human review within 24 hours. Moderators review reported and hidden posts within 24 hours. They restore posts that follow the rules, remove ones that don’t, and ban accounts when needed. A restored post can’t be hidden again by the same reports.
  • Proactive action. Moderators can hide any post or ban any account at any time, reported or not.

Consequences

  • Content removed. A removed or hidden post disappears from the feed, profiles and leaderboards, along with the points it earned.
  • Points don’t count. Points from gaming (vote trading, extra accounts, fake “inspired” claims) are excluded or removed.
  • Bans. A banned account can’t post, vote, report or claim “inspired” bookings. Its posts disappear from the feed, profiles and leaderboards, and its votes stop counting. It can still delete its own posts and the account. Serious or repeated violations lead to a ban without warning.
  • Illegal content. We report it to law enforcement where the law requires or allows.

Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, email support@freecation.app with your handle and the post. A person will look at it again.
